Xiaomi Launches Mi Mix 3 With Sliding Camera, 10GB RAM, & No Notch

"Mi MIX 3's patented slider incorporates neodymium magnets that have been carefully calibrated", stated Xiaomi in its announcement. The Mi MIX 3 scored highly on DxoMark ratings.

It was necessary for Xiaomi to come to this kind of solution rather than adopt a notch because of how much tech is hidden there.

Like the previous Mix series phones, the Mi Mix 3 has a bezel-less design. Both the cameras support dual-LED flash and PDAF.

The Mi MIX 3 achieves a staggering 93.4% screen-to-body (STB) ratio, thanks in part to the sliding solution.

For photography, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 sports two 12-megapixel primary cameras at the rear. The smartphone has a 20-megapixel front camera with 1.0-micron pixel size, f/2.2 aperture. After the company's Black Shark Helo gaming phone, the Mi MIX 3 is the second phone to feature 10 GB of RAM.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 smartphone was launched at an event in Beijing, China today. The design on the rear remains unchanged from the Mi Mix 2S, so we still have that iPhone-like vertical dual camera placement.

Potential sources also suggested that Xiaomi has planned a 5G enabled version of the phone for its European customers. Furthermore, the background looks like a testing station. However, those who were expecting the 5G-enabled variant of the phone will have to wait till next year. The device could be the first to run on the successor to the Snapdragon 845, which is tentatively being called the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150.

Mi Mix 3 offers Face Identification but the camera system isn't visible on the face of the display until the user quickly slides the display down thereby exposing the camera system. It will feature a 6.3-inch full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The new Mi Mix editions bring the fight to the full view display phones.

The price for the 6/128 GB variant is CNY3,299, the 8/128 GB is CNY3,599, while the 8/256 GB is CNY3,999. This model will come with the same specs sheet other than the storage option and this variant will be available for Rs. 17,999 in the country for a limited time and might increase later as per the company's statement.

The Mi Mix 3 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage starts at CNY 3,299 ($475). What's more, Xiaomi is even including a wireless charger in the box with the phone.

There is also a Forbidden City Palace Museum Special Edition model you can get your hands on, which you can see in the photo above. As for the 8GB RAM paired with 256GB storage, it will set you back by CNY 3,999 (around $575).
