Opener Jos Buttler was the batting mainstay as he hit 82 from 58 balls, scoring more than half the team's runs. He scored 59 runs off just 39 balls with the help of 2 sixes and seven fours.

KXIP's chase stared on a shaky note when Krishnappa Gowtham removed Chris Gayle and Ravi Ashwin in the third over of the innings.

Rajasthan's batting in this tournament has been their major cause for worry. Credit to the bowlers, the way they bowled.

Gowtham did the trick again two balls later to get rid of Ravichander Ashwin for a naught.

Rajasthan would not have even crossed the 100-run mark but thanks to a blistering innings by opener Buttler that propelled the hosts to a moderate total.

Two nights back, Lokesh Rahul was the hero of Kings XI Punjab's stunning win in their run chase as he scored an unbeaten 84 in front of a rousing support at their adopted home in Indore. An awesome 82 off 58 balls Jos Buttler gave the host a heady start, but as soon as he left thing went into a downward spiral. a catastrophic bowling by Andrew Tye knocked 4 wickets, 3 in the last over and limited RR - 158/8. Both Samson and Buttler jumped out fractionally early to signal Mujeeb to alter his length.

L Rahul was awarded Man of the Match. He got to his fifty with some classical cricketing shots sending bowlers on a leather hunt all around the ground.

Akshdeep Nath (9) then joined Rahul to add 26 runs for the fourth wicket, taking Punjab to 45 runs.

Barring the win against Rajasthan, Ravichandran Ashwin and co have lost the other two (against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians) of their previous three matches. KXIP bowlers were taken for plenty of runs in the Powerplay overs, but struck through Marcus Stoinis, who dismissed Gowtham. But the story of the night was that at the other end: the only other batsman to make double-figures for Kings XI took 16 balls to make 11. We have got some extremely talented players and we need them to lift a little bit and contribute a little bit more to what they are doing. I thought 160-170 was going to be a very good score.

Samson- Perhaps the only guy who has been playing confidently for RR and getting the runs. I'm delighted for Ish to bowl with such fantastic control.

It was a good bowling effort from Punjab, who managed to keep Royals to a below par score despite Buttler's fireworks. The boys bowled fantastically well. "It was important that we enjoy this victory and move forward", said Rahane.
