Early voting for May 22 primaries starts Monday

Secretary of State's Office spokesman Joey Keefe said the system will actually be more secure - it requires both a driver's license number and Social Security number - than the traditional way of requesting an absentee ballot. Voters can use the "Voter Lookup tool" on the county's BOE website to find precinct and polling locations, sample ballots, absentee ballot status and more.

Voters who are not pre-registered or who have changed precincts also may be required to provide proof of residence.

There are seven candidates for Secretary of State including Republicans David Belle Isle, Buzz Brockway, Josh McKoon and Brad Raffensperger and Democrats John Barrow, Dee Dawkins-Haigler and Rakeim "RJ" Hadley.

Early voting for the May 8 primary election began April 25 and continues through May 5. There is no Democratic opponent, so the victor of the primary will likely take that seat in November.
