Kratos is back, baby.
Kratos is arguably one of the greatest heroes in recent video game history. It is in this harsh, unforgiving world that he must fight to survive. And teach his son to do the same.
What's particularly striking about the experience is how well done the storytelling is. Nope! You can grab it if you have the XP, it's just showing you how strong the attack will be with your current stats, and how likely its additional bonuses are to be activated when the skill is used. Make sure you open every chest you find since, chances are, they have some nifty loot in there.
The God of War franchise has enjoyed its fair share of praise from players and publications alike.
The game's story brings a new dimension for the series, as it has shifted from Greek mythology to Norse mythology.
It's like this game was tailor-made to fit my interests.
Above: There's Kratos being stern again! As players will learn by the end of the game, the story of Atreus and Kratos was foretold by Faye and the Frost Giants of Jotunheim. This isn't a reimagining of Kratos, it's a continuation.
The new God of War is the developer, Santa Monica Studio, understanding that to keep the series alive and successful, it had to change and refine.
The result is a very different game to what you might expect.
-Some of the most mechanically diverse gameplay-you had to swap weapons on the fly with the shoulder button to take on different enemies, and you could even do it mid-combo. To compensate for this, you can perform a quick 180-degree turn. Taking on additional quests and challenges helps as well. Fans who have been on board since the original game may be apprehensive about all the alterations, but it's still undeniably God of War. There's a strategy to this, because he can draw attention, for good or ill. Don't go in thinking you can pull off incredible unstoppable combos without retort. The three shield skins which you'll find at nearly all retailers are the Buckler of the Forge, Dokkenshieldr, and Shining Elven Soul Shield. This action game is handsome, exciting, and touching, and I go into why in my review. You'll actually care about the characters and their journey. At its best, the game zeroes in on this dynamic: how becoming a parent makes you aware of the ways you fall short, have been monstrous, and how you want to hide that person from your child, even if it's to their detriment. "It is a game that, until recently, would have been impossible". The Toys and other collectibles throughout are just that: "collectibles". If you feel this way, don't fret. The game is deeper, richer, and better than ever before.
Let's take a second to remember the brilliance of the PSP games.
Hacksilver is the currency in this edition of God of War.
Though it shares its name with the series' first installment, "God of War" shouldn't be considered a reboot. This game is a must own.
However, if you do pre-order God of War at GameStop you'll receive the Luck of Ages Talisman as an additional reward.
