Broncos met with PSU RB Saquon Barkley at National Football League combine

The running back position has been devalued in recent years, due in large part to the pass-heavy nature of the modern NFL. Yup, Barkley was faster than all of them.

The most glaring are the 14 reps on the bench press and being yelled at by coaches.

That came after he logged 29 reps on the bench press, a figure which dwarfed numerous offensive linemen here in Indianapolis. It certainly doesn't help the running backs with a Round 1 grade that three of the top four leaders in rushing yards in 2017 were drafted in the second round or later.

South Dakota State Dallas Goedert and Oklahoma's Mark Andrews gets a lot of pub as the top tight end prospects but there's nothing on film either of those guys do that Gesicki can't. Brooke Pryor, an OU beat writer for the Oklahoman, reported that Brown's time was the fifth slowest at the Combine for an offensive tackle since 2003. But what's hard to overcome are the intangibles.

He had his day at the Combine last week, during which he confirmed everything that scouts have believed about his athletic ability, but he was also impressive at the podium and in interviews, according to reports. Here explains why it wouldn't be wise to take the Penn State running back. Chubb ran a 4.52 and Michel ran a 4.54.

Despite his considerable 233-pound frame, he led all running backs with a 41-inch vertical leap. Parker went on to say that he is looking forward to putting up the best numbers he can at the combine.

-Alabama running back Bo Scarbrough is an interesting prospect, and his workout on Friday only raised the level of intrigue. Devin Hester was 4.43 seconds in the 40-yard dash while Julio Jones' vertical jump was 38.5 inches. Although three tight ends at last year's combine did better than Gesicki, he became only the eighth tight end in the past 19 combines to go at least 129 inches in the broad jump. His teammate, another highly touted offensive lineman Mike McGlinchey, also opted out of the drill, but that was known prior to Friday. But there are plenty of other talented running backs on offer, including LSU's Derrius Guice, another big victor at the combine.
