The order, signed January 25, is part of a statewide effort to combat this year's flu epidemic, which is already stacking up to be one of the worst in a decade. "I have only had it once before, and haven't gotten it since", said Larissa Simon, sophomore advertising and public relations major.

An infected individual can spread the illness through the air to others from less than six feet away by coughing, sneezing or talking.
"If you develop symptoms, there are a couple things you should do", Graves said.
"You should still get a flu shot because if you do get the flu, and you've got the flu shot then it's going to be less severe because it protects against four different strains", Graves said.
Health officials say they are getting a better idea about how hard Oklahoma has been affected by the flu virus this season.
'General practice is still under considerable pressure as we deal with these flu presentations in our surgeries and this latest data shows we're still not out of winter pressures yet as the influenza virus can be very unpredictable'.
"We are still seeing many patients presenting with flu-like symptoms. that have tested negative but physicians are still opting to treat them with antiviral medications", she said. People may be infected with the flu and have respiratory symptoms without a fever. While it did contain one version of the H3 virus, the lab-grown virus was cultured in chicken eggs.
Part of the reasoning as to why the efficacy of the flu vaccine varies is that the virus itself keeps mutating and there are multiple strains in circulation simultaneously.
