Doug Pederson not happy about Alex Smith joining NFC East

"So I'm happy for him". LIKE NFL by Chat Sports on Facebook to be notified when the NFL Daily goes live at 6 p.m. ET every day! Makes no sense. I've heard all along that he doesn't want to cripple whatever team he joins in terms of cap flexibility or the ability to build around him.

"But most importantly, leadership in the locker room". If they somehow get him, they can use the picks to bolster the rest of their offense. Washington's getting a great quarterback.

"This league is insane". The quarterback talk is never going to end and that's fine, but what are some of the possibilities outside of QB?

So when you're a Washington cornerback, you have to suspect that your name could possibly come up. He was a first-round talent who dropped to the third round because of injury concerns, yet has played to a first-round grade - and stayed healthy - during his first two seasons with in the league.

In our ranking of Atlanta's 2018 opponents, we put the Washington Redskins No. 8 out of 13.

The NFL's free agency signing period will begin on March 14, more than a month before the NFL draft will begin on April 26.

The move also didn't sit well because the Redskins didn't notify Fuller he was traded.

Cousins was Washington's starter the last three years, and did a solid job, but he wanted to be paid like a superstar, and the Redskins' brass wasn't going there. "I owe Alex a great deal for helping me learn how to be a professional". I'm excited for him and his opportunity. I think seeing where all of that falls, first thing first. He's a pro's pro. He is a guy that can actually win a game in a shootout. Cousins is about to be a free agent after passing for over 4,000 yards (one of two free agents with over 4,000 passing yards last season) and will have more touchdown passes from the 2017 season than any other quarterback on the market (27 touchdown passes). The team has been yearning for quarterback ever since Peyton Manning retired and Cousins will be the team's best option.

By acquiring Smith, the Redskins are signaling that they will allow incumbent starting quarterback Kirk Cousins to hit the open market, where he figures to land a massive contract.

"We need Kirk", Miller said.

"We need Kirk", Miller said with a laugh.

Not all peers share the same view of Cousins. He's a talented quarterback. He's got a talented arm, smart at the line of scrimmage, knows how to make adjustments. Knows how to make adjustments. They'll have to be content with a third-round compensatory pick for Cousins in 2019.

Given that Cousins is the top available quarterback and there are more teams than capable arms, expect the 29-year-old to strike a deal comparable to what Oakland's Derek Carr and Detroit's Matthew Stafford got in recent years, if not more.
