Nwosu looks to improve draft stock in Senior Bowl

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield said Tuesday that he's determined to change his image.

"My mom's not doing great", Mayfield told Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver Post.

Oohs and aahs: Auburn inside linebacker Tre' Williams had the defensive play of the day that got a good reaction from the crowd at the South practice. He has even been compared to Johnny Manziel, the former Texas A&M standout who won the Heisman Trophy in 2012 and famously flamed out with the Browns. Mayfield believes he's the best quarterback prospect in the 2018 National Football League draft. I've watched the guy for two days and his accuracy seems pretty good for me. "I'm there to play football", he said. I do anything it takes to win. "It's led me to be a better man".

Mayfield, because of things that happened to him on and off the field during his career, has drawn plenty of criticism, even as he was accepting very big metal trophies for his on-field success.

He reached a plea deal after an arrest on public intoxication charges during the last offseason. He still needs to consistently throw with a narrower base, but Mayfield has plenty of arm strength to spray the ball all over the field. Following a solid week's worth of practices, some have him now going in the 1st round.

Manzel, who last played in 2015, made more off-the-field news than on it. Mayfield may be heading in a similar direction. "To be able to have a week to be around him and get to know him a little bit was important to us". The Browns have the No. 1 overall pick, but at this point, most would be shocked if they used it on Mayfield. He has the measurables, coming in at a shade under 6-foot-5 and 237 pounds at Tuesday's weigh-in.

Hunt knows what it takes to compete in an all-star game like the Senior Bowl, which he's on the ground covering for the sixth straight year.

The Saints have been tied to Baker Mayfield in multiple mock drafts and Sean Payton is reportedly a huge fan. That pick was based on his general ranking on big boards prior to the Senior Bowl.

That left him wanting to prove that he's "way more accurate than that shows".

"Well, I would think we would probably not do that, " he said.

"It's one on one, it's a lot of area to work with and I think you should complete most of those". And while Josh Allen has said he'd be happy to play for Cleveland, he's also another wasted Browns pick waiting to happen. "That's the main reason I'm here".

Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen, projected to be one of the highest-rated players in the draft, Washington State quarterback Luke Falk and Nebraska quarterback Tanner Lee are also on the North team.

"I'm not sure what the book is (on Allen)", Broncos head coach Vance Joseph said to a media throng following practice.
