After their match at No Mercy, the Big Dog, Roman Reigns took to Twitter, to send out a message to his opponent John Cena. With two mega-matches sitting at the top of the card and every title being defended, the show had a lot to live up on Sunday night, but did it deliver?
Both Reigns and Cena are among the best in the world on their day, and the two gelled together well in their first ever singles match. Jason Jordan via pinfall to retain the title Jordan put on a fantastic show with variety of suplexes and offenses with the numbers game have to catch up with him at some point or the other and it happened when Jordan has Miz on a roll up. As Cena exited the arena, he looked back to the WWE Universe and walked off - eerily similar to the way The Undertaker did at Wrestlemania. Jordan tossed Miz onto Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas on the floor.
Pressed for the last time wrestling caused him to cry, Reigns took a second to pause and contemplate. Wyatt then challenged Balor for a match at WWE No Mercy. Elias went after Crews even after the match prompting Titus O'Neal come to the rescue. Wyatt helped eliminate Balor from the match and on the following episode, he addressed his interference. Jordan goes for a turnbuckle splash, but Miz tosses him into the ringpost.
But even with his teeth gone and his mouth bleeding, Cesaro continued to compete in the match.
Raw women's champion Alexa Bliss def. Bayley, Emma, Sasha Banks and Nia Jax. Either way, it was nice to see a Los Angeles crowd that has been tough on Cena over the years show him respect after the match.
From the post-match comments on RawTalk it doesn't seem Reigns has ended Cena's career outright, but with this win he has undoubtedly and unequivocally assumed the position at the top of the company. If war of words is one to go by, John Cena would emerge victorious. Reign knocked out four Attitude Adjustments, one of which included from the middle rope.
Following the match, in an interview Lesnar's advocate Paul Heyman praised the Monster Among Men and said, "the Beast Among Monsters" didn't look quite ready to cede his throne at WWE No Mercy. In the latest episode of WWE Raw, the former tag team champions left with a win after defeating the champions and Gallows and Anderson. Roman recovered and hit a Superman Punch/spear combo, finally getting him the win. A few minutes later, Enzo nearly got counted out and while he was outside of the ring, he held up the Cruiserweight title and that caused Neville to get upset and break up the count. Lawler has fun setting Enzo up for more jokes at Neville's expense as they attack his large ears next. At SummerSlam, we saw an incredible and never seen before the fatal-4-way match for the Universal Championship between Roman, Brock, Braun, and Samoa. Lesnar kicked out of an early pinfall attempt after a Strowman powerslam.
For the first time in a long time, Brock is being booked as an underdog.
