IPhone X vs Samsung Galaxy Note 8: Which device should you buy?

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 features dual 12MP main cameras, one with 26mm lens, f/1.7 aperture, PDAF, OIS, autofocus, 2x optical zoom and dual-LED (dual tone) flash and the other with a 52mm lens, f/2.4 aperture, AF, OIS, autofocus, 2x optical zoom and dual-LED (dual tone) flash. LG's phone comes with two rear-facing cameras: one standard and one wide angle, like the iPhone X and iPhone 8 Plus. With an audio jack, you don't have to splurge for a new wireless headset and you won't have to worry about any mechanical noise at all.

The Note 8 is now available for purchase through AT&T, C Spire, Sprint, Straight Talk Wireless, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Verizon, Xfinity Mobile, Best Buy stores, BestBuy.com, Target, Walmart and through Samsung itself via its website and ShopSamsung app. While most of us won't be able to even fill up this memory, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 offers 64GB onboard storage with 256GB expansion option using a microSD card. Plus, the glass that composes the phone is allegedly "the most durable glass ever in a smartphone, front and back". (That's pronounced "iPhone 10", for the curious.) As expected, Apple showed off a phone with an edge-to-edge screen, advanced facial recognition technology and no home button.

The launch of the company's flagship smartphone came just hours before Apple Inc. was set to announce the launch of a special edition iPhone on Tuesday. If you want the most basic (and cheapest) iPhone you can buy, go for the iPhone SE. Samsung Display is a major screen supplier to Apple. The A11 chip also integrates an Apple-designed GPU with a three-core design that should give games a boost.

It feels like we've been waiting for ages for the iPhoneX to come out so we can measure it against the Samsung Galaxy S8, a phone that is garnering rave reviews. Following the trend of the dual camera, Samsung has packed this device with a dual camera. AT&T offers the Galaxy Note 8 for $949.99, split into 30 monthly payments on AT&T Next, and both Verizon and Sprint will happily allow you to finance the device at $960. We'll see how this holds up to the Galaxy 8's IP68 certification allowing it to be under 1.5 meters of water for nearly half an hour with no trouble. A 256 GB variant of iPhone X will retail for almost Rs. 1 lakh, making it one of the most expensive iPhones to ever launched in India.

Both the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are also water and dust resistant.

If you go purely by size, Samsung is the clear victor here. Let's take a look at the Chinese pricing of the device to get an estimate.

It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, 13MP primary camera, 16MP secondary camera and runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat with a promised upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo.
