How they match up: Chargers vs. Miami Dolphins

The 31-year-old linebacker is in the midst of his first season as a member of the Dolphins, though the veteran defender has yet to suit up for the AFC East franchise. A big reason is quarterback Philip Rivers remembered Hunter Henry was on the roster.

Earlier on the day, Gates also became just the third tight end ever to get 900 career receptions, doing so in his 206th career game. That was followed by a 26-yard run by backup running back Branden Oliver and a 24-yard dart from Rivers to Keenan Allen.

To cap the drive, Cutler rolled to the right and found Kenny Stills on a 29-yard touchdown which tied the game up at 10. The Bolts will begin their L.A. story as they welcome the Miami Dolphins to Carson, California. Avoiding a rush by rolling to his right, Cutler feathered in a flawless 30-yard strike to Kenny Stills, who was covered well on the play. Miami is also 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games in Week 2 and 1-5 ATS in their last six games in September. Rivers carved the Dolphins defense, completing passes to five different receivers.

The Chargers had one last opportunity for victory.

Miami seemed to be in great trouble when their starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill suffered a season-ending injury but now they have signed Jay Cutler for the job.

The Dolphins, meanwhile could do nothing after an opening possession field goal.

The offense lined up, apparently in an attempt to draw Miami offside.

Watson struggled through his first ever start in the National Football League, however, he did produce the only moment that really mattered in the game as he ran for a 49 yard touchdown after breaking free from the Bengals defense. Parkey still did most of the Dolphins' scoring, connecting from 30, 28 and 35 yards before burying his longest kick in the waning moments.

Landry had a huge game for the Dolphins in this one, catching 13 balls for almost 80 yards. Despite breaking out a 21-yard run on the Chargers first play of the game, Gordon didn't start to find his rhythm until late. Jay Gruden's Redskins beat his former offensive coordinator Sean McVay's Rams; Ron Rivera's Carolina Panthers edged his former defensive coordinator Sean McDermott's Buffalo Bills 9-3; Andy Reid's Kansas City Chiefs got past his former offensive coordinator Doug Pederson's Philadelphia Eagles 27-20.
