Magic: D'Angelo Russell had potential, but Lakers needed more

One of the better instant offense players is Charlotte's new scorer Malik Monk, but he won't have enough shots to make it happen, and at just +900, he's more of a fade candidate. It became clear they would draft a point guard after Russell was traded to the Brooklyn Nets along with center Timofey Mozgov for Stanford-alum and nine-year National Basketball Association center Brook Lopez Tuesday afternoon.

According to former Timberwolves GM David Khan, the Ball storyline was all-too familiar, as he likened the case of LaVar Ball to another famous National Basketball Association father- Dell Curry.

In his first public appearance since getting drafted by the Lakers, Ball probably wanted to avoid the embarrassment of throwing a wild pitch, a feeling celebrities like 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg know all too well.

"The Big Baller way", LaVar retorted with a face that looked like he was just asked a ridiculous question.

Stepping into the ring, Ball will replace the former second overall pick from 2015 in D'Angelo Russell.

"I went to the high school", Johnson said. Embiid, Simmons and Fultz are all blue-chip prospects, but the Sixers have some good role players also.

"It's a wonderful feeling, but I already knew what was coming to him", he added later, noting he's had his son pegged for the Lakers for 19 or 20 years. "I'm truly blessed to be able to play in my hometown, and I can't wait to get on the court". We want guys that love the game. And I said, OK, that's all I needed to hear.

Lonzo is one part of the rebuilding process Magic has for the Lakers.

Isaac (+3000), Josh and Justin Jackson (+3300) and both Zach (+4000) and John Collins (+5000) will probably contribute more than their odds suggest, but with defense and fundamentals, losing leverage to the offensive minded players.

So much for the notion that the Lakers would try to minimize the pressure the garrulous LaVar Ball has heaped on his son.

After raving about the Lakers' draft picks, Johnson then predicted his spending strategy will work. It will be an exciting season for the Lakers fan out there with all the trades and acquisitions they will have, it will surely make the Lakers a contender next season and the future seasons to come.

And he's the product of a great old man, a person you might want to go away but a father who isn't going anywhere. "It's unbelievable. I think this process has a high ceiling and I'm looking forward to it", said Mr. Fultz during a Cisco Telepresence Video Call with worldwide media on draft day last Friday.
